The research paper titled “Too Good to Go: Combating Food Waste with Surprise Clearance”, by Prof. YU Man from the Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management and her co-author was awarded the Best Problem-Driven Analytical Research Paper title from the 2024 Annual Conference of the Decision Sciences Institute.

In view of the lion share of food waste arises at the end stages of food supply chains, the paper explores an innovative mobile-application-based service “Too Good to Go”, and how it reduces food waste by connecting consumers to stores and restaurants with surplus food that would otherwise be sent to landfills.
