Co-organized by the HKUST Business School’s Center for Business and Social Analytics (CBSA), the Investor and Financial Education Council (IFEC), and Cyberport, the 2025 Hong Kong Web3 Ideathon wrapped up with resounding success. The event drew the creative potential of over 150 students from 36 teams across local institutions.

The excitement peaked at the final Pitch Fest in end March, where eight finalist teams battled it out for top honors. Taking the first place was a team of first-year HKUST Business School students, with their project harnessing Web3 to preserve Hong Kong’s cultural heritage through digital NFTs and secure donations. The second place was awarded to a team of HKUST engineering students, who explored the potential of Web3 applications in the micropayment industry. A joint team from CUHK and HKUST won the third place with their vision for a universal anonymous membership ecosystem.

The top teams took home a share of HK$70,000 in cash prizes, along with fast-tracked interviews for Cyberport’s entrepreneurship programs—offering them a springboard to turn their visions into reality. Read more from the press release.
