In March, the MBA Programs hosted engaging activities for current and prospective students in Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Our full-time MBA student team also brought home a trophy from an international case competition.

Triumph at Roland Berger-IESE Case Competition

The HKUST full-time MBA students have once again proven their excellence by winning the Roland Berger - IESE International MBA Case Competition. This achievement highlights the dedication of our students and mentoring from our faculty. Comprised of Intake 2024 students Dara BONOMI, Emma CAI, Raghav CHOPRA, and Marouane ZIANI, the winning team impressed the judges with their innovative solutions, exceptional presentation skills, and outstanding team spirit.

Fireside Chat with Cathay Group CEO

HKUST MBA connects academia with industry leaders, providing a platform for practical insights that cultivate future leaders. In a recent fireside chat, Ronald S.P. LAM, CEO of Cathay Group, shared his nearly 30-year journey with the company and his transformative leadership through unprecedented challenges. The event attracted over 120 participants, both in-person and online.

Under Mr. Lam’s leadership, Cathay has adeptly navigated the complexities of the aviation industry, particularly during the pandemic. His commitment to fostering a people-first culture has resulted in improved employee morale and customer satisfaction. Mr. Lam emphasized the importance of pursuing one’s passion in career choices, asserting that true fulfillment arises from engaging in the work one loves. He also introduced the concept of micro leadership, demonstrating how individual efficiency and effectiveness can influence organizational success.

HKUST MBA Shenzhen Info Session

HKUST MBA brought together a group of eager learners in Shenzhen for an engaging info session, “Be a Super Connector: Leading with Influence and Connectivity”. Led by Prof. Stephen SHIH, Associate Dean of HKUST MBA Programs, the session offered participants a deep dive into the art of building influence and meaningful relationships. Prof. Shih emphasized that collaboration and networking are essential traits of effective leadership, showcasing how the HKUST MBA Programs equip professionals with the tools to lead confidently in today’s dynamic business landscape.

Adding to the enriching experience was our MBA alumni sharing session with Ezekiel CHIM, Ecosystem Sales Director at Accenture, and Frank ZHAI, Operations Manager at Apple. Both alumni shared how the HKUST MBA Programs transformed their careers, providing them with the knowledge, skills, and mentorship necessary to enhance their leadership capabilities and professional growth.
